There is something to the disappointment I felt when playing Kingdom Rush: Vengeance, and I think Ironhide really walked into this one. If you want to play an excellent tower defense game, go get Jelly Defense instead. Just imagine going to a posh restaurant in anticipation of a good time and a delicious meal, but once everything is served they tell you that silverware, condiments, and even napkins are sold separately, which immediately makes you feel dumbfounded, frustrated and duped. I am fine with IAPs in a freemium game or a premium one that gets a major DLC, but when they try to forcibly shove them down your throat in a newly released paid title, it becomes a slap-in-the-face move. ![]() yes, you guessed it right - a myriad of in-app purchases. Once again we see here the same top-down perspective, comic-style cutscenes, all-too-familiar gameplay and. I can honestly say that I wanted to like this new chapter in the Kingdom Rush franchise, but eventually failed to do so.įirst of all, apart from some graphical improvement, I did not notice any evolution in the series or something that I haven't seen in their previous games. Vengeance: Never played it, and I should really.Subscribe to Pocket Gamer on Roman Valerio - iPad Air The towers feel way more balanced and have great uses, but I would say either the High Elven Mage for their amazing damage and ability to stop hordes or the Bladesingers for their cheap invulnerability and stopping potential. Disabling enemy abilities, increasing the amount of damage enemies take, while dealing fairly decent damage makes Axe Throwers amazing, and the Necromancers can sweep any horde without magic resist. While the Tesla excels at AoE damage and dealing with the hordes, the Sorcerer has a passive ability to deal True Damage over time to enemies, strip their armor(and Armor Shatter upgrade in the game has more armor strip), and while expensive, a tanky blocker and the ability to click an enemy to death is nothing to laugh at.įrontiers: Necromancers or the Axe Throwers, both deal amazing damage and can disable entire horde when they work together. However it deals less damage and I feel like even a full burst is not that impactful but whatever, just let the big guy you possessed deals the damage for you! I think I lean more on the Mausoleum because Possession is such a ridiculous ability and Gargoyles are a bit tankier. Reliable damage, cheap AND blockers? Yes please. ![]() Vengeance: Like you, Bone Flingers / Mausoleum. Whereas High Elven Mages is a bit more hit-or-miss but they do have the highest dps I believe (especially with Sentinel!) and Time Lapse is incredible at chokepoints when you can time lapse Avengers or Bandersnatch for later. ![]() Good damage, good range, some crowd control and another upgrade to isolate troublesome targets. Origins: I hesitate between Arcane Archers or High Mages. The cooldown on Barrage is low and the other upgrade make Fort a good supporting tower too. ![]() They are nearly never a bad choice: good DPS, great range, cheap and great upgrades to improve the DPS (even against armor iirc?). I like Arcane Wizards, I'm a sucker for insta-kill abilities and the good damage / range combination is nice to have.įrontiers: Crossbow Forts without a doubt. Kingdom Rush: I don't know, maybe Tesla too? It's probably the best but I don't feel like it's my favorite.
